Adventures and travel have always shaped my life. Every summer, my family would pack into the car for a month-long road trip to visit relatives in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The shifting landscapes outside the window felt like a movie, punctuated by spontaneous stops at hot springs, caves, rock formations, copper mines, and ancient Native American ruins. These journeys deeply influenced who I am, though they now live mostly as memories, with little visual record.

Excursions II on display at Ocean Oasis for the 2025 Girard Art Walk is a photographic reflection on personal histories and recent experiences spanning 2018 to 2024, including a journey around Iceland in 2018 and time spent along the shores of Lake Erie during and after the pandemic. In these landscapes, I found solace through hiking and photographing the raw elements of nature: rock, water, wood, sand, and sky. These images offer a moment of grounding, inviting viewers to reconnect with nature and discover quiet beauty in overlooked places. Photography becomes both a tool for archiving and a way to reflect on our relationship with the land.
