Elanor West Artistry

Elanor West is a Girard alum studying Art Education with a dual degree in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Honors Disciplinary Studies at PennWest Edinboro. Her work spans multiple mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, metals, photography, and sculpture.

Her work explores focuses in portraiture, identity, expression, and memory. In her work, portraiture has been expanded past a framing choice, becoming a concept that aims to bring out the individuality of those depicted. In addition, memory becomes imagery through expressive markmaking. Each medium feeds into the next, developing into an interdisciplinary body of work. Their drawings give clarity and careful focus to the portrait through framing and color. Her paintings give expression through markmaking, while photographs capture a moment’s memory, blending the concept of classic portraiture. Her metalwork, ceramics and sculpture connect memory with imagery and experience, bringing these concepts to the 3 dimensional world in more abstracted ways.
