“As a whole, my artwork is a direct expression of my upbringing and passion. Born and raised in Michigan, my life has been spent exploring the beaches that run along nearly the entire west coast of Michigan. The tranquility and beauty that beaches provide my body and mind is an aesthetic I attempt to reflect in practically all of my artwork. There are so many parallels between the ceramic and Biblical applications.”

Ron Bayuzik
Ron Bayuzik
“Bayuzick’s latest collection of drawings, paintings, and sculpture once again confirms the artist as an important visual expressionist, not only in this region, but beyond. Bayuzick’s two- dimensional work dominates his show with abstract pieces varying from medium to large sizes. The majority of the works are not only prodigious in size, but they have a visual presence that expands where one’s eye can go while viewing them.”

“With staged macro photography I have been exploring the interaction of light with transparent and reflective surfaces. I consider my photography a series of experiments, a process of trial and error that builds upon past successes through the manipulation of variables. My process is unified by its simplicity and use of ordinary materials.”

“My instruction was at the Cleveland Institute of Art where I studied design, watercolor, oil painting and sculpture. My major was Industrial Design and Blueprint Application.
I paint wild birds, fish and pets in acrylic on slate. The natural stone background is very complimentary to nature as slate gives great color and texture which I incorporate into the paintings.”

“I’ve been a nail technician at Premiere Day Spa and Salon for 4 years now, where I specialize in tiny hand painted nail art. While this is my passion I do daily at work, my hobby is tiny art as well. I typically paint nature inspired work with acrylic paints 2 x 2 canvases, or pet portraits on small wooden rounds. Ive always been artistic and “doodled” my way through school, but was mostly busy with music. My junior year I joined the art class in school, and I won an award presented by Tom Ridge for my sculpture of a water lily in clay. Now art is my work and my hobby, a win-win for me!”

“Walking through the natural landscape, my eyes scan my environment. Frequently, I pause to examine a leaf, a stone, or a branch. After many years of this near daily activity, without conscious thought, I decide to retain or discard each fragment that passes through my hands. My actions feel non-intellectual. Some objects enrich me and, I carry them to my studio. My journeys occur year-round, in all weather. The process of finding is as important as the bounty I retrieve.”

“My goal as an artist is to capture fleeting impressions of time and nature, with a focus on plants. I seek to honor and remember them. To that end, I prefer to employ the botanicals themselves in the process. By using the plant’s own pigments, textures and/or forms directly on a surface, I’m creating an authentic imprint, fossil or impression—of spring growth, summer exuberance or autumn grace. I’m also preserving their memory. Before an alder tree that’s eroded down the bluff washes into the lake, I’ll transfer imprints of its leaves onto fabric or paper and use its cones to color linen or silk a warm tan. I’ll record the moment an ephemeral and elusive wildflower blooms or of seedpods before they burst open to scatter their seeds. Through my work, I hope to capture overlooked details.”
